    All Public Skating Sessions Have Been Put On Hold By The Health Department Until Further Notice.

    North Buffalo Rink Health and Safety Policies and Procedures

    The North Buffalo Rink values the health and safety of our patrons and our staff.  These new policies and procedures have been developed using the most up to date resources available.  This time is difficult and the guidance is ever-changing.  Please check back for updates to these procedures frequently.  If you have any questions about them please contact Nick Price.

     

    What can you expect from our staff:

    • Any staff displaying any symptoms of respiratory illness or flu should stay home and consult a healthcare professional.
    • Any staff testing positive for COVID-19 must notify rink management immediately.  Rink management will notify the proper authorities and cooperate with all contact tracing procedures.
    • Staff will complete a health screening, including temperature, before each shift.
    • Staff will wear proper PPE while performing their duties.
    • Staff will receive training on the use of face coverings, PPE, hand washing techniques, sanitizing and cleaning procedures.  Staff are expected to follow and enforce all policies and procedures.
    • While every effort will be made to educate rink users to the new policies before they arrive, staff are expected to communicate those policies and procedures upon rink user arrival.

     

    What do we expect of our rink patrons:

    • There is a maximum of 25 people on the ice, including coaches and instructors.
    • If you are displaying signs of respiratory illness or flu stay home.
    • Organizations will be asked to provide their health and safety plan, individuals will be asked to sign a waiver that states they have screened all participants by asking the following questions:
      • Have you had any COVID-19 symptoms in the past 14 days?
      • Have you tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 14 days?
      • Have you had any contact with someone who has confirmed or suspected they have COVID-19 in the past 14 days?
      • It is strongly recommended you ask each participant to take their temperature before coming to the rink.  If they have a fever they should stay home.
    • Do not share equipment/water bottles.
    • Pay rink usage fees online through our secure payment page.  The City of Buffalo has prohibited cash handling at the facility.  Payment must be made prior to using the ice surface.
    • Parents/spectators are asked to remain outside of the facility.  A maximum of 10 parents/guardians at a time are allowed in the rink to assist younger skaters with tying their skates.  Parents/guardians are then asked to exit the facility until their child's practice is over.
    • Maintain social distancing to the highest extent possible.
    • Face coverings are required for all who enter the facility.  Parents are required to wear a face covering at all times while in the facility.  Participants may remove their face coverings while on the ice participating in activity.  Coaches, instructors are required to wear face coverings at all times.
    • Locker rooms will no longer be available.  Participants should arrive and leave fully dressed.  You may use the rink benches when putting on your skates.
    • No Spitting in the facility
    • ENTER THROUGH ASSIGNED DOORS ONLY.  Facility entry will be assigned to avoid groups crossing paths.
    • Come to the rink no more than 15 minutes before the scheduled ice time.  Come fully dressed.
    • You will be allowed in the facility 15 minutes prior to the ice time to get skates on.  You will be allowed 15 minutes after the ice time to get skates off and leave the facility.  Participants are not permitted to undress in the facility.
    • At this point competitive play/practice is not allowed.  No scrimmaging, pick-up games or any drills that would violate the physical distancing requirements.
    • Showers will not be available.

     

    What is our cleaning and sanitizing procedure:

    • All chemicals used for sanitizing have been approved to be effective against COVID-19 and other viruses and bacteria.
    • Clean and sanitize public spaces and high touch points after each rental group including but not limited to counters, door handles, push bars, net posts and crossbars, restrooms, seating areas.
    • Locker rooms will be cleaned and sanitized before and after each use.
    • Clean and sanitize employee only areas after each use including but not limited to rink office, desk, computer, door handles, tables, mechanical room doors and equipment.
    • All shared, common equipment will be cleaned after each use.
    • Showers will be inaccessible.
    • 1 urinal in each of the restrooms will be blocked off to follow physical distancing guidelines
    • Rental skates will not be available
    • All locker rooms, restrooms, common areas will be cleaned and sanitized each night.
